Jordan enter this clash as underdogs, but their offensive line has done wonders in the last 12 months, scoring in every encounter since November. I see value in backing both teams to score in St Gallen.

Key Stats

  • Switzerland have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Jordan have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches.

No Previous Meetings

This is going to be the first time these two sides lock horns.

Swiss Warming up for the WC

Switzerland had a great run in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers, winning 1st place in Group B with 14 points ahead of Kosovo, Slovenia and Sweden, not losing a single match with a 14-2 goal difference.

They played two international friendlies this year, starting with a thriller 4-3 home defeat against Germany. Dan Ndoye, Breel Embolo and Joel Monteiro were their scorers.

A couple of days later, the Red Crosses locked horns against Norway in Oslo which ended in a goalless draw. They had 0.74-0.51 expected goals and 10-5 shots.

Jordan Making their First WC Appearance

Jordan qualified for the upcoming World Cup 2026, which is going to be their first ever appearance on the big stage, scheduled to face Austria, Algeria and Argentina.

Defending was their strongest link in the qualifiers, allowing just eight goals in ten matches to finish second in Group B (four wins, four draws, two defeats), just behind South Korea.

After making it to the FIFA Arab Cup finals where they lost to Morocco 3-2 in extra-time, Jordan played two friendlies against Costa Rica and Nigeria in 2026, both clashes ending in 2-2 draws.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Switzerland (3-4-3) Yvon Mvogo; Manuel Akanji, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria; Fabian Rieder, Remo Freuler, Granit Xhaka, Michel Aebischer; Noah Okafor, Breel Embolo, Dan Ndoye

Granit Xhaka will likely make his 145th appearance for the national team, while Breel Embolo is the top scorer with 23 goals.

Jordan (3-4-3) Yazeed Abulaila; Yazan Al Arab, Mohammad Abualnadi, Abdallah Nasib; Mohannad Abu Taha, Nizar Al Rashdan, Noor Al Rawabdeh, Amer Jamous; Mahmoud Al Mardi, Musa Al Tamari, Ibrahim Sabra

Adham Al-Quraishi and Issam Smeeri were out of contention due to injuries.
