Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC Head To Head

Sydney won the only previous meeting between these sides 1-0 back in Round 18, with Thiago Quintal's strike in the 54th minute proving the difference.

Brisbane Roar's Fall From Grace

It's been an alarming fall from grace for Brisbane, who come into this clash with a 6-6-10 record on the season and down in 10th spot on the ladder.

Brisbane put together a promising start to the campaign and were entrenched inside the top six heading into the new year - however, they've managed just one win since New Year's Eve.

As a result, the Roar have tumbled down the ladder and despite being just four points adrift of the finals, they look in no shape to contend.

Michael Valkanis' side hit a new low before the break, suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to fellow battlers Wellington.

Sydney FC Sack Ufuk Talay

Sydney haven't been able to hit top gear at any stage of the season, prompting the board to sack Ufuk Talay and bring in Patrick Kisnorbo for the run into the finals.

The Sky Blues have gone from challenging for the minor premiership, to battling to stay inside the top six after a run of just three wins from 11 games.

Talay's last game in charge saw Sydney go down 2-1 at home to leaders Newcastle, seeing them drop to fifth spot on the ladder.

Sydney are six points clear of Central Coast in seventh, but the Mariners have a game in hand, so finals are far from certain - especially if they fail to win here.
