Players to Watch

Jessica Pegula
The top seed returns to Washington as one of the leading title contenders. Pegula's clean ball striking, consistency and experience on North American hard courts make her well suited to the conditions.

Elina Svitolina
Svitolina brings plenty of experience and defensive quality to the draw. Her movement, consistency and ability to turn defence into attack make her a dangerous contender over the week.

Leylah Fernandez
The defending champion returns after an impressive title run in 2025, when she defeated Anna Kalinskaya in the final. Fernandez's aggressive left-handed game and ability to take the ball early make her a strong threat once again.

Emma Navarro
Navarro will be looking for a strong run on home soil after establishing herself among the leading American players. Her consistency, movement and composed baseline game give her the tools to challenge deep into the tournament.
