Hijikata Holding Onto Top 100

Rinky Hijikata has been struggling to string wins together this year. He reached the fourth round in Indian Wells and quarter-finals at Queen's Club.

The Australian got back into the Top 100 as a result but hasn’t reached a quarter-final since.

The 25-year-old didn’t last long at the US Open where he went out in the first round, a 4 sets defeat to Felix Auger Aliassime.

Hijikata beat qualifier Dalibor Svrcina 7-6 6-4 in Hangzhou, saving 2/5 break points.

Rublev Out of the Top 20

Andrey Rublev has been unable to get back into Top 10 this year, beaten in three semi-finals before a final defeat in Barcelona.

He won the title in Bastad but couldn’t replicate that form on hard courts. The Russian went out early in Toronto and Cincinnati to drop out of the Top 20 for the first time since January 2020.

The 28-year-old struggled at the US Open, coming from two sets down to beat Otto Virtanen in the first round. He suffered a 4 sets defeat to Daniel Merida Aguilar in the second round, winning 34% of his 2nd serves.
