Kostyuk Continues Stunning Clay Run
Marta Kostyuk secured her place in the semifinals after defeating Elina Svitolina in three sets at the French Open, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. She won 13 of the final 14 games of the match to pull away and finish comfortably.
This is the third time Kostyuk has recorded back-to-back Top 10 wins in the same tournament. She previously achieved the feat in Stuttgart in 2024 and Brisbane earlier this year, and on both occasions she went on to reach the final. She will be hoping for a similar outcome this week.
With this victory, Kostyuk becomes the first Ukrainian woman to reach the Roland Garros semifinals in the Open Era and only the third Ukrainian woman to make a Grand Slam semifinal after Elina Svitolina and Dayana Yastremska.
She has now extended her clay-court winning streak to 17 matches, a run that includes titles in Rouen and Madrid, the biggest trophies of her career. The surge is even more impressive considering she was sidelined for two months after suffering an injury at the Australian Open and then struggled during the Sunshine Double on her return.

Andreeva Eyes First Grand Slam Final
Mirra Andreeva moved into the semifinals after defeating Sorana Cirstea in dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-3. She dropped serve only once and converted all six of her break-point opportunities to finish the match quickly.
This is Andreeva's second Roland Garros semifinal. She previously reached this stage in 2024 but lost in straight sets to then world No. 15 Jasmine Paolini. This time she faces another world No. 15 for a place in the final and, as the highest-ranked player left in the draw, will be hoping for a different outcome.
With this victory, Andreeva moves to a tour-leading 34 match wins this season. Twenty of those victories have come on clay, where she has won the title in Linz, reached the final in Madrid, the semifinals in Stuttgart and the quarterfinals in Rome.
It has been an impressive turnaround for the Russian. She endured a difficult stretch during the Middle East and Sunshine Double swings, where she failed to defend two major titles and dropped significant ranking points. Since the start of the clay season, however, she has rediscovered her best tennis.
