Alcaraz the Favourite in Barcelona
Carlos Alcaraz started 2026 with 16 consecutive victories, winning the Australian Open and Qatar Open. His first loss came against Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells semi-finals.
The 22-year-old was beaten by Sebastian Korda in the third round in Miami before turning his attention to clay. He couldn’t defend his title in Monte Carlo, going down 7-6 6-3 to Jannik Sinner in the final.
The Spaniard slipped to World No.2 before returning to Barcelona where he is a two-time champion. He got past qualifier Otto Virtanen 6-4 6-2 in the first round, saving 5/6 break points.
Machac Finding Some Form
