Alcaraz Unbeaten in Tokyo

Carlos Alcaraz spent four months recovering from a wrist injury and made his comeback at the US Open

The 23-year-old was looking good but couldn’t go the distance in the quarter-finals, going down in 5 sets to Ben Shelton. He played once at the Laver Cup, beating Taylor Fritz 6-3 4-6 (13-11).

The Spaniard was pushed by Alex Michelsen in the first round in Tokyo, getting through 7-6 4-6 6-1 after saving 8/13 break points. He overpowered Matteo Arnaldi 7-6 6-1 despite winning 25% of his 2nd serves.

Alcaraz was leading 7-6 2-1 when Denis Shapovalov retired. He had saved 1/4 break points in eight service games and extending his record to 8-0 at the tournament.

Munar Reaches First 2026 Semi-Final

Jaume Munar had reached three ATP Tour quarter-finals this year, dropping out of the Top 50 as a result. He lost to Arthur Rinderknech in the second round at the US Open.

The Spaniard was last seen at the Sevilla Challenger where he went out to World No.82 Facundo Diaz Acosta in the semi-finals.

The 29-year-old is enjoying the conditions in Tokyo where he came through the qualifiers. He upset Taylor Fritz 6-7 6-4 6-3 before demolishing Jaime Faria 6-1 6-1 in 63 minutes.

Munar kept it going in the quarter-finals, beating Kyrian Jacquet 6-4 6-2, winning 65% of his 2nd serves and saving all four break points.
