De Minaur Holding Onto Top 10 Spot

Alex de Minaur has been a Top 10 player for over a year. He won the title in Rotterdam and lost the s’Hertogenbosch final but was unable to get to another semi-final until now.

The Australian was well below his best on the North American hard court swing, ending with a straight sets defeat to Botic van de Zandschulp in the US Open second round.

The 27-year-old gained some confidence at the Laver Cup, coming back to beat Alexander Zverev 2-6 7-6 (11-9).

De Minaur has spent plenty of time on court in Beijing, beating Mariano Navone 7-6 6-2 and Quentin Halys 3-6 7-6 7-5. He came back to beat Andrey Rublev 1-6 6-2 6-3 in the quarters, saving 9/12 break points.

Hurkacz Climbing the Rankings

Hubert Hurkacz dropped out of the Top 100 in June but has now won 12 of his last 14 matches. He won the Cancun Challenger before a second round defeat to Ben Shelton at the US Open.

The 29 year-old went deep in Chengdu, reaching the final where he went down to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

The Pole was pushed in his opening two wins in Beijing, getting past Learner Tien 5-7 6-3 6-4 and Arthur Gea 7-6 6-7 6-2. He was more efficient against Karen Khachanov, winning 7-6 6-2 after saving one break point.
