Switzerland Continuing Their Outstanding Tournament Run
Switzerland have been sensational throughout the World Championship 2026, winning all seven group-stage matches in regular time to finish top of Group A.
They secured huge victories against strong opponents including the United States 3-1 and Finland 4-2, while also recording dominant wins against Austria 9-0, Germany 6-1 and Hungary 9-0.
Their impressive form carried over into the quarterfinals where they defeated Sweden 3-1 despite conceding early. Roman Josi, Denis Malgin and Calvin Thurkauf all appeared on the scoresheet in another controlled performance from the hosts.
Norway’s Fairytale Campaign Continues
Norway have been one of the biggest surprise packages at the Ice Hockey World Championship 2026, advancing from Group B with 15 points and finishing just behind Canada.
The Scandinavians produced several massive upsets during the group stage, most notably beating Sweden 3-2 and the Czech Republic 4-1, while also ending the first phase with a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory against Denmark.
Norway continued their fantastic run in the quarterfinals by defeating Latvia 2-0. Tinus Luc Koblar and Noah Steen scored the goals, while goaltender Henrik Haukeland delivered a brilliant display with 35 saves.
