Canada are tipped to secure a place in the World Championship Final.

The Canadians boast a perfect record in this tournament, winning routinely in regulation, while Finland did come up short in their biggest test of the competition so far.

Key Numbers – Can Canada Go 9-0?

  • Canada have won all 8 games in the tournament
  • 7 of Canada’s 8 victories have come in regulation time
  • Canada won when the two teams met at the 2026 Winter Olympics
  • 3 of Canada’s last 5 games have gone under 5.5 total goals

Canada Lead Head-To-Head; Won Last Meeting

  • Canada lead the series 16-14-1
  • Canada won 3-2 when the two teams last met on February 20

Canada Boast Perfect 8-0 Record

Canada enter this semi-final matchup having won all eight of their World Championship games so far.

The Canadians entered the tournament as the favourites to lift the trophy, and they have so far lived up to that billing.

They opened with a 5-3 win over Sweden, and backed that up with blowout victories over Italy, 6-0, and Denmark, 5-1.

Canada then overcame Norway 6-5 in their only game to go beyond regulation, and wrapped up the group stage by beating Slovenia 3-1, Slovakia 5-1 and Czechia 3-2.

That set up a showdown with arch rivals, the United States, in the quarter-finals, and the Canadians gained a measure of revenge for their Winter Olympics loss as they won 4-0.

Finland Have Won 7 Of 8 Games So Far

Finland go into this huge clash having won all but one of their eight games at the World Championship.

The Finns have been guilty of slow starts in recent years, but they had no such issues this time around as they opened with a 3-1 win over Germany and the beat Hungary 4-1.

They then made it three straight victories with their biggest win of the World Championship so far – a 6-2 demolition of defending champions, the United States.

Finland then downed Latvia 7-1, Great Britain 4-0 and Austria 5-2, before closing out the group stage with a 4-2 defeat to host nation Switzerland.

The Finns then successfully negotiated the quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory over Czechia.
