Hajduk Split know how to score at home and clean sheets have been hard to come by for Ajax. I am anticipating an exciting clash in Croatia where BTTS and over 3.5 goals are on my betslip.

Key Stats

  • Hajduk Split have scored in their last 11 home matches.
  • Hajduk Split have scored 2+ goals in 10 of their last 11 home matches.
  • Ajax have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 10 matches.
  • Ajax have seen over 3.5 goals in 9 of their last 10 matches.

HTH

These clubs have met four times and Ajax are yet to score in Croatia. The Dutch club have been too strong at home, winning 6-0 and 3-0 in Amsterdam.

Home Form Strong for Hajduk

Hajduk Split recently won four straight matches without conceding. They scored nine goals in that run with Michele Sego scoring three of them.

The Croatian side saw their lead at the top of the HNL cut to one point after a 3-0 defeat at Rijeka. Manager Gonzalo Garcia was sent off before half-time with his team 2-0 down.

Garcia’s side bounced back with a 2-1 win against Dinamo Zagreb. They did it the hard way after falling behind, Sego assisting Abdoulie Sanyang for the winning goal.

Defensive Issues at Ajax

Ajax won seven of their opening nine matches this season. They got past Sion 9-7 on aggregate in the Conference League playoffs to highlight their defensive issues.

Michel’s side have kept only two clean sheets in 14 games. Their toughest test came at home against PSV and they failed, falling to a 3-1 defeat against the Eredivisie champions.

The Amsterdam club bounced back with 5-1 wins against Fortuna Sittard and Willem II but that’s where the positivity ended. Ajax drew 2-2 against Excelsior before the break and return to action with a 1-1 draw against Nijmegen.

The form of Tolu Arokodare has been impressive, the Nigerian striker bagging seven goals in his previous seven appearances at club level.

Predicted Lineups

Hajduk Split (4-2-3-1) Toni Silic; Mathieu Acapandié, Ron Rac, Dario Maresic, Simun Hrgovic; Alberto Del Moral, Khalil Fayad; Abdoulie Sanyang, Dalisson de Almeida, Marin Soticek; Michele Sego

Ajax (4-3-3) Marc-André ter Stegen; Lucas Rosa, Thilo Kehrer, Youri Baas, Owen Wijndal; Davy Klaassen, Sofyan Amrabat, Julian Brandt; Viktor Tsygankov, Tolu Arokodare, Oscar Gloukh

Verdict

Ajax can’t be backed with much confidence here despite possessing a far stronger squad. I am expecting both teams to score with Toluwalase Arokodare to maintain hie fine form in front of goal.
