Despite boasting some of the most talented African squads of the 21st century, Ivory Coast have never reached the World Cup knockout rounds.

The Elephants roared through Group F in Africa, ensuring their ticket to North America was secured without conceding a goal.
Emerse Faé’s side showcased their devastating firepower with a 9-0 demolition of the Seychelles. They dropped points in 0-0 draws in Kenya and Gabon, winning the remaining eight games.
Two friendlies were played in March, a 4-0 victory over South Korea and 1-0 win against Scotland. Their final friendly will come against France in Nantes on 4 June.

The rise of Emerse Fae is the stuff of footballing folklore. Thrust into the spotlight during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Fae rallied a fractured team, engineered knockout wins over Senegal and Mali and defeated Nigeria 2-1 to claim the title.
His tactical hallmark relies on physical intensity and defensive discipline. Under his stewardship, the Elephants reached the 2025 AFCON quarter-finals where they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Egypt.
The Squad - Pace to Burn Out Wide
Emerse Fae's squad is anchored by experienced leaders including Jean Michael Seri and Franck Kessie.
The manager has a number of speedsters to call upon out wide. Yan Diomande, Bazoumana Toure, Simon Adingra, Amad Diallo, Evann Guessand and Nicolas Pepe are going to give opposition full-backs plenty of problems.

Verdict
Once again Ivory Coast find themselves in a difficult group. Ecuador and Germany could prove difficult to break down but a victory over Curaçao is likely to be enough to reach the Round of 32.
I think Group E is wide open and better enjoyed as a spectacle rather than an opportunity to make a profit.
