Galway vs Sligo Preview

Galway and Sligo are two of the most out-of-form teams in the 2026 Republic of Ireland Premier Division. Neither side looks convincing form and a draw is the best bet.

Key Stats - Out of Form Sides

  • Galway are winless in 10 of their last 12 games.
  • Sligo are winless in 5 consecutive matches.

H2H

Sligo have a 29-14 advantage against Galway, alongside 20 draws.

Galway Struggling for Form

Galway have been unthreatening in the Republic of Ireland Premier Division recently. They have gained just four points from their last six games, losing four.

The Tribesmen were winless in three before securing a rare 2-1 victory against mid-table Derry City. Galway couldn't build momentum and lost 3-1 at Shamrock Rovers.

John Caulfield’s side fell to another defeat on Friday after a 3-0 loss at St Patrick's. Galway allowed 2.06 XG and conceded three goals in the opening 23 minutes.

Sligo Are Bottom of the Table

Sligo are 10th in the Irish Premier Division and two points from safety. Rovers have failed to win in nine of their previous 10 matches.

The Connacht outfit's only recent win came at Shamrock Rovers 2-1. A three-match losing streak followed, and Sligo ended that run with a 2-2 home draw with Shelbourne.

John Russell’s side gave up a 1-0 lead and lost 2-1 against Shamrock Rovers last time out. Will Fitzgerald struck after just 13 minutes before Sligo faced 24 shots and conceded twice in the second period.
