Dundalk vs Drogheda  Preview

Dundalk have had some good recent wins against decent Republic of Ireland Premier Division opponents. Drogheda are on a long losing streak away and it’s worth backing a home victory on Friday.

Drogheda on a 5 Match Losing Streak

  • Dundalk have won 2 of their last 3 home games.
  • Drogheda have lost 5 consecutive away matches.

H2H - Dundalk Advantage

Dundalk have a 32-18 advantage against Drogheda, alongside 17 draws.

Dundalk Are Pushing for Europe

Dundalk are fourth in the Republic of Ireland Premier Division and seven points off the European qualification spots.

Ciaran Kilduff’s side were undefeated in five, including four victories. The County Louth outfit also won twice at home in that streak, beating Shamrock Rovers 1-0 and Derry City 2-1.

The Lilywhites' unbeaten run ended after a 3-2 loss against Waterford. Dundalk had 23 shots and 1.47 XG in that match.

Kilduff’s team then lost back-to-back games for the first time since April, following a 2-1 defeat at Shelbourne. John Wilson scored in the fourth minute and Dundalk conceded twice late in the first half.

Drogheda Stuck in a Relegation Battle

Drogheda have dropped down the Republic of Ireland Premier Division table after a downturn in form. They are just two points above the relegation zone and have failed to win in eight successive matches.

The Drogs have lost four consecutive away games during their winless streak. Drogheda's most recent loss on the road was a 2-0 defeat at Derry City, where they had no shots on target.

Kevin Doherty’s team also lost 2-0 at home against Bohemians on Friday. Mark Doyle scored an early own goal and Drogheda conceded a late second.
