Arsenal vs Chelsea Preview

Arsenal are a well-balanced team and have winning momentum in the Premier League. Chelsea concede a lot of goals and face a tough test against the in-form Gunners on Sunday.

Arsenal on a 7-Match Winning Streak

  • Arsenal have won their last 7 Premier League games.
  • Arsenal have won 3 consecutive matches against Chelsea.
  • Chelsea have lost 3 of their last 5 away Premier League games.

H2H - Gunners Have the Edge

Arsenal have an 88-66 advantage against Chelsea, alongside 61 draws.

Arsenal Strong at Both Ends

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are the most in-form Premier League team. The Gunners have won seven consecutive league games, scored 12 and conceded just one goal.

The Premier League champions have won all three games in the 2026/27 campaign. Arsenal comfortably beat Man City 3-0 in the Community Shield and had 2.16 XG.

Arteta’s team began the new Premier League season by defeating Coventry 3-0 at the Emirates. The Gunners allowed just 0.2 XG in that victory.

Arsenal extended their winning streak with a 1-0 away triumph at Aston Villa. Bukayo Saka scored a second-half winner and the Gunners faced no shots on target.

Chelsea Facing Their First Big EPL Test

Chelsea have made a solid start to the 2026/27 season under new boss Xabi Alonso. The Blues have won three successive games in all competitions.

Alonso’s outfit began the new campaign by beating Premier League rivals 3-2 at Craven Cottage. Chelsea then cruised to a 2-0 EFL Cup second-round win against League One Luton.

The west Londoners moved up to fourth place in the Premier League after beating Brighton 4-3 at home. Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro scored in the first half and Cole Palmer added a late fourth.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): David Raya; Ben White, Ezri Konsa, Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori; Declan Rice, Bruno Guimaraes; Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Christos Tzolis; Kai Havertz

Centre-back William Saliba is ruled out with a long-term back injury. Defender Jurrien Timber is also unavailable due to an ankle problem.

Cristhian Mosquera is likely to make the squad after coming off injured against Villa. Mikel Arteta was positive about the defender’s condition post-match and said:

“He's fine, but he was feeling like he was about to have something, and that's why we have the bench that we have, and that's what we have to bring in Ezri.”

Chelsea (3-4-2-1): Emiliano Martinez; Wesley Fofana, Maxence Lacroix, Levi Colwill; Pedro Neto, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Jorrel Hato; Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer; Joao Pedro

Midfielder Jordan Henderson and full-back Marco Palestra are injured and won’t feature.

Moises Caicedo is an injury doubt following an injury against Brighton. Xabi Alonso issued an update on the midfielder’s fitness after the Brighton match and said, “We need to assess during the week that it wasn’t something else.”
