Match Preview

Ukraine have been one of the biggest surprise packages of this Nations League campaign, but they struggled in their most recent meeting with Iran, losing 3-2 in June last year. An entertaining battle is expected in Belgrade.

Ukraine One Step Away

Ukraine have enjoyed a strong Nations League 2026 campaign and need just a couple more victories to secure a Top 7 finish. They currently occupy fifth place in the standings with a 5-3 record.

They produced several impressive upsets during Week 2, recording back-to-back victories over Brazil and reigning world champions Italy while dropping just one set across those two matches.

Ukraine extended that excellent run with a 3-1 victory over Canada before finally seeing their winning streak end in a 3-1 defeat to world runners-up Bulgaria in their most recent outing.

Iran Playing for Pride

Iran will miss out on the Nations League final tournament once again after collecting just two victories from their opening eight matches, with their last appearance at this stage coming in 2022.

Following a 3-2 defeat to Belgium in mid-June, Iran suffered three more losses in Week 2 against France (3-2), the United States (3-0) and Japan (3-2).

Their four-match losing streak finally came to an end in the previous round with a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed Cuba.
