The Germans endured an inconsistent Week 2, opening with a 3-2 defeat to Argentina before responding with a 3-1 victory over Belgium. The same pattern continued over the following two matches, as they lost 3-1 to Poland before bouncing back with a 3-1 win against China.
Their playoff hopes officially disappeared earlier this week after a 3-1 defeat to Slovenia. Germany were unable to recover from that setback, suffering another loss on Thursday, going down 3-2 to Iran.
