Poland look unstoppable this year, making it to the EuroVolley 2026 quarterfinals without dropping a single game. Can Germany recuperate after an exhausting Round of 16 clash against Bulgaria and cause trouble on Tuesday?
Poland Chasing Another European Title
Poland had a strong start to the EuroVolley 2026, winning their first four appearances without dropping a single set against Portugal, Israel, North Macedonia and Ukraine.
Their focus was evidently lower in the final round against Bulgaria after securing first place, plus they had more rotations than usual, leading to a slightly surprising 3-2 defeat against one of the co-hosts in Sofia.
The Poles had zero trouble against Latvia in the Round of 16, winning in straight sets while allowing just 49 points.
This year has been very successful for them already, winning the Volleyball Nations League 2026 by beating USA 3-2 in the grand finals, while they are also the reigning European champions from 2023.
Germany Surviving a Five-Set Thriller
Germany also claimed their spot at the EuroVolley 2026 playoffs early after starting the tournament with four straight victories against Turkey 3-1, Latvia 3-0, Romania 3-2 and Switzerland 3-1.
They couldn't keep this winning streak alive in the final round, suffering a 3-0 loss against favored France while scoring just 57 points.
Germany were on the edge of elimination on Saturday in Sofia, trailing by two sets against Bulgaria in the Round of 16, but pulled off a huge comeback to take a 3-2 victory.
