Match Preview
Poland are the reigning champions from 2023 and also won the Volleyball Nations League 2026 earlier this summer. Will they justify the role of favorites against France tonight?
France Lost Just One Game so Far
France are looking ready to challenge for the gold medal, making their way to the final with seven victories and just one defeat so far.
Their campaign started with four straight victories against Switzerland 3-0, Latvia 3-1, Turkey 3-0 and Germany 3-0. After securing first position in the group, they rotated heavily and lost to Romania 3-2.
Les Bleus locked horns with Portugal in the Round of 16 and claimed another victory in straight sets on Sunday afternoon, then took revenge against Romania in the quarterfinals, claiming another 3-0 victory.
Yesterday, their serve was fantastic, leading to a 3-1 victory against underdogs Finland. Outside hitter Mathis Henno was named man of the match after scoring 21 points with 70% attack efficiency.
Poland Chasing Back-to-Back European Titles
Poland have had zero problems so far in the elimination phase, crushing Latvia in straight sets while allowing just 49 points, while also cruising past Germany in the quarterfinals, where they were slightly more contested in terms of points (57).
A 3-0 victory against Slovenia in the semifinals was not as easy as the result might suggest, edging the first two sets 25-23 before dominating the third. Wilfredo Leon had another fantastic performance, while Bartiolomiej Boladz also stepped up with some important hits, finishing with 14 points.
This year has been very successful for them already, winning the Volleyball Nations League 2026 by beating USA 3-2 in the grand final, while they are also the reigning European champions from 2023.
