Poland are one of the hottest teams in the competition right now, but getting points against world vice champions Bulgaria is never an easy task. Everything points towards a close encounter on Wednesday.
Bulgaria Underperforming This Season
Despite their impressive performances at the World Championship 2025, Bulgaria are in danger of missing the Nations League final tournament for the second consecutive year, currently sitting eighth with a 5-3 record.
After some inconsistent results in Week 1, they opened Week 2 with a huge 3-2 victory over reigning world champions Italy, then suffered another five-set defeat against hosts Slovenia but immediately bounced back by beating Canada 3-2.
In their most recent appearance, Bulgaria were tagged as underdogs against red-hot Ukraine but produced another impressive performance, claiming a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Poland Chasing Playoff Berth
Poland are the reigning Nations League champions and have continued their strong form in 2026, entering the final stages in third place with a 6-2 record.
Both of their defeats came in five-set battles against Slovenia and Japan in mid-June, but they responded with four straight victories over Ukraine (3-2), Belgium (3-2), Turkey (3-2) and Germany (3-1).
The Poles extended their winning run to five matches in the final game of Week 2, comfortably beating Argentina 3-1. They also recorded the same scoreline in their recent friendly against Germany.
