UFC Fight Night Preview
The main event sees form light-heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev take on late replacement Bogdan Guskov.
Ankalaev reached the summit in the 205lb division last March when he out-pointed Alex Pereira over five rounds, but his reign proved to be a brief one as he surrendered the title back to the Brazilian via first round knockout in October.
That was only the second defeat of the 34-year-old Russian’s careers, and he will be looking to issue an immediate response when he steps back inside the Octagon.
Ankalaev had been slated to face another top-five contender in Khalil Rountree Jr, but the American was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury, with Guskov stepping in to fill the void.
Guskov had been preparing to rematch Jan Blachowicz on August 1, having previously gone to a majority draw with the former champion last December.
That result halted a four-fight win streak for the 33-year-old from Uzbekistan, but he remains ranked in the top 10 and enters this bout knowing that a victory would catapult him right into title contention.
But can Guskov spring an upset for the biggest win of his career to date, or will Ankalaev overcome the late change in opponent to strengthen his own calls for a title shot?
