The betting markets are increasingly pointing towards a changing of the guard at WWE SummerSlam, with Oba Femi emerging as the clear favourite to defeat Brock Lesnar in what could become one of the defining moments of the year.

With sportsbooks favouring "The Ruler" to prevail at odds of around 1.05, punters appear convinced that WWE is ready to cement its newest powerhouse by handing him the biggest victory of his career.

The matchup carries significance beyond the result itself. Reports surrounding the event have fuelled speculation that this could be Lesnar's final in-ring appearance, with the bout taking place inside US Bank Stadium in Minnesota - a fitting venue for one of the most accomplished athletes ever to step inside a WWE ring.

While no official retirement announcement has been made, widespread reports have suggested SummerSlam could serve as the perfect stage for Lesnar to walk away after an extraordinary career. Long before becoming a WWE and UFC champion, Lesnar established himself as one of the nation's premier amateur wrestlers at the University of Minnesota.

Competing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, he captured the NCAA Division I Heavyweight Championship in 2000 and built the credentials that would later make him one of combat sports' most intimidating crossover stars. Returning to Minnesota for a potentially career-ending match provides an emotional backdrop that has only intensified speculation surrounding the outcome.

A victory for Oba Femi would therefore represent much more than another marquee win. It would symbolically mark the passing of the torch from one generational physical specimen to another. WWE has spent months building Femi as an unstoppable force, and betting markets generally reflect confidence that his momentum is only heading in one direction.

That confidence has also been reinforced by the overwhelmingly positive reaction Femi has received from WWE audiences throughout his rapid rise. His confrontations with Lesnar have consistently generated strong fan engagement, with many supporters viewing him as one of the company's next genuine headline attractions.

And looking beyond SummerSlam, bookmakers are already projecting an even bigger future. Early odds for the 2027 Royal Rumble have reportedly installed Femi as the market favourite at 3.5, underlining just how highly both sportsbooks and many fans rate his long-term prospects.

Should Femi beat Lesnar in Minneapolis, those Royal Rumble odds may only shorten further.
