Players to Watch

Ekaterina Alexandrova
Alexandrova returns to Monterrey as the top seed and last year's runner-up, so she will have strong motivation to go one step further this time. Her aggressive game and powerful ball-striking make her well suited to these hard-court conditions.

Donna Vekic
Vekic is a former Monterrey champion and has the experience to make a deep run if she finds her best form. Her powerful groundstrokes and aggressive style can be particularly effective in the quick conditions here.

Elise Mertens
Mertens brings consistency and experience to the field as the second seed. Her all-round game and ability to stay solid under pressure make her a dangerous opponent throughout the tournament.

Maja Chwalinska
Chwalinska has enjoyed a breakthrough season and arrives as one of the leading seeds in Monterrey. She has the ability to trouble higher-ranked opponents and will be looking to build some momentum before the US Open.
