Czech Continues Grass Rise
Linda Noskova secured her quarterfinal place after defeating Madison Keys 6-4, 7-6. She saved five of the six break points she faced and converted both break opportunities she created during the match.
The Czech will be relieved with the result after coming through back-to-back gruelling three-set encounters against Camila Osorio and Sorana Cirstea in the previous rounds, including recovering from a break deficit and saving a match point against the latter. This is also her best result at Wimbledon.
Apart from her opening-round loss to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in Bad Homburg, Noskova has won nine of her 10 grass-court matches this season, including lifting the Berlin title.
This is her fifth quarterfinal of the season, and she has converted two of her previous four into the semifinals, including at Indian Wells.
Noskova has reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal only once before, losing in straight sets to Dayana Yastremska at the 2024 Australian Open. With her improved ranking and form, she will be aiming for a better result this time.

Belgian Ends Long Wait
Elise Mertens secured her place in the quarterfinals after defeating Marie Bouzkova 6-4, 6-4. She trailed by a break in the opening set before recovering to take control of the match.
Apart from dropping a set to Maria Timofeeva, the Belgian has won her other four matches in straight sets, including an impressive victory over world No. 2 Elena Rybakina.
This is Mertens' best result at Wimbledon. She had previously reached the fourth round on three occasions, with all of those runs ending at that stage.
The Belgian had consistently avoided early exits this season but struggled to turn those solid starts into deep runs. By reaching the quarterfinals, she has broken that pattern and advanced to her first tour-level quarterfinal since Monterrey last year.
This is Mertens' fourth Grand Slam quarterfinal and her first since 2020. Apart from her Australian Open semifinal in 2018, she lost her next two quarterfinals at the 2019 and 2020 US Opens.
