Flavio Cobolli is enjoying the best spell of his career, having reached the French Open final before backing it up with another impressive run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. He now faces Arthur Fery, who has battled through consecutive five-set matches and is likely to be carrying considerable physical fatigue. That fitness advantage could prove decisive in a best-of-five-set contest.
A Fairytale Run Faces Its Toughest Test
- Cobolli holds a 1–1 record in Grand Slam quarterfinals.
- He is currently on a seven-match winning streak against players outside the Top 100.
- Fery has won 10 of his 13 grass-court matches in 2026.
- He owns a 3–4 career record against Top 50 players.

Cobolli Builds on Strong Season
Flavio Cobolli moved into the Wimbledon quarterfinals after defeating Alex de Minaur in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6, 6-3. He trailed by a break in both the second and third sets but fought back impressively to complete the victory in straight sets.
This is his second Grand Slam quarterfinal and his fourth on grass. Notably, all three of his previous quarterfinals on the surface ended in defeat, most recently against Novak Djokovic here at Wimbledon last year.
The Italian has enjoyed an impressive six months, either producing deep runs or suffering early exits. That has been the pattern of his season.
He recently achieved a career-high ranking of No. 10 after reaching his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros. Earlier this season, he played five tour-level quarterfinals and won four of them.
Cobolli heads into this clash with a 1-1 career record in Grand Slam quarterfinals.

Fery Continues Historic Campaign
Arthur Fery secured his place in the Wimbledon quarterfinals after defeating Grigor Dimitrov in five sets, 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6. He recovered from a break down twice in the fourth set, a crucial turnaround in his comeback victory.
The Briton also survived a five-set battle against Zizou Bergs in the previous round. Earlier in the tournament, he came from a set down to defeat Damir Dzumhur and Otto Virtanen.
With this run, Fery became the first wildcard to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals since Nick Kyrgios in 2014.
He started the season outside the top 100 and had won only one ATP Tour main-draw match before 2026. However, a quarterfinal run at Queen's Club, combined with this Wimbledon campaign, will move him close to the top 60 in the rankings.
This will be Fery's first Grand Slam quarterfinal, and he is looking to continue the best run of his career.
