Tagger arrives with growing confidence, but Anisimova's superior experience and consistency make this a difficult challenge for the Austrian.

Tagger Looks to Build on Her Historic Grand Slam Win
Lilli Tagger moved into the second round of the US Open after defeating Tamara Korpatsch in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6. She looked in complete control early on but became shaky towards the end, squandering a 4-0 lead in the second set and facing two set points before eventually closing out the match.
This was Tagger's first main-draw win at a Grand Slam. Her previous two main-draw appearances, at the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year, had both ended in first-round defeats.
The result was particularly welcome after a difficult North American swing, where she played two events before this week without recording a main-draw victory. That was disappointing considering she had arrived on the back of her title-winning run in Prague.
The Austrian has made 11 main-draw appearances on tour this year and registered multiple main-draw wins only twice, winning her maiden tour-level title in Prague and reaching the quarterfinals in Linz. Those results helped her make her Top 50 debut recently, and she will now look to build further momentum this week.

Anisimova Builds Confidence at the Right Time
Amanda Anisimova began her US Open campaign with a convincing straight-sets victory over Ashlyn Krueger, winning 6-3, 6-1. She saved 10 of the 11 break points she faced and converted five of the nine opportunities she created during the match.
The American suffered a wrist injury in March, which sidelined her for two months and limited her schedule. She struggled to make deep runs consistently following her return.
However, her recent quarterfinal run in Cincinnati provided a timely confidence boost as she looks to defend her runner-up points in New York. She will aim to build on that momentum and continue her campaign this week.
Anisimova heads into this clash with a 14-4 record in second-round matches at Grand Slams and is currently on a six-match winning streak at this stage.
