Despite Wang's steady improvement in recent months, Swiatek's excellent recent form gives the Pole a clear advantage heading into this clash.

Swiatek Brings Renewed Momentum to New York

Iga Swiatek has found her best level in recent weeks, producing impressive results by winning the title in Toronto and reaching the semifinals in Cincinnati. She will now look to continue that momentum at the US Open.

This marks an impressive resurgence for the Pole, who had struggled to consistently produce her best tennis and make deep runs earlier in the season. Her inability to defend the Wimbledon title also cost her significant ranking points and pushed her outside the Top 5.

This is her eighth main-draw appearance at the US Open, and she has cleared the opening-round hurdle in all seven of her previous appearances, including winning the title in 2022.

Wang's Remarkable Rise Continues After Injury Comeback

Xiyu Wang started her season only in March after recovering from an injury and was ranked outside the Top 200 at the time. She has since produced impressive results at lower-level events, recording six semifinal or better results.

That momentum gave her the confidence to extend her success to the main tour. She has played five tour-level events this year, with three ending without a main-draw win, but her fourth-round runs at the French Open and Cincinnati helped push her back inside the Top 100.

This is her sixth appearance at the US Open, and she holds a 2-3 record in opening-round matches here, notably reaching the third round in 2023.
