Swiatek Eyes Another Deep Run in New York

Iga Swiatek defeated Nadia Podoroska in straight sets to reach the third round at the US Open, winning 6-3, 6-2. She saved all four break points she faced and converted three of the four opportunities she created during the match.

This is Swiatek's seventh consecutive third-round appearance at the US Open. Apart from her defeat to Victoria Azarenka, she has won her other five matches at this stage and will be looking to continue that strong record in New York.

The 25-year-old struggled to make deep runs earlier this year and failed to defend several ranking points, which saw her drop out of the Top 5. However, she has raised her level since the start of the North American swing, winning the title in Toronto and reaching the semifinals in Cincinnati.

Overall, Swiatek has a 22-5 record in Grand Slam third-round matches. She most recently lost at this stage against Alexandra Eala at Wimbledon and will be looking for a better result this week as she targets a sixth consecutive second-week appearance in New York.

Bouzkova Reaches the Third Round With Confidence

Marie Bouzkova dispatched both of her opponents, Harriet Dart and Elsa Jacquemot, comfortably to reach the third round at the US Open. She has not lost more than two games in any of the four sets she has played so far.

With these wins, Bouzkova has matched her best result at the US Open. She had previously reached the third round here only once, losing to Ons Jabeur after taking the opening set, and now faces another tough opponent in the next round.

The Czech struggled significantly early this year and did not record multiple wins at an event until March. However, she improved her level from the start of the clay-court swing, winning titles in Bogota and Nottingham before reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon and Cincinnati.

Bouzkova has a 3-4 record in Grand Slam third-round matches and has won only one of her last five matches at this stage. She now faces one of the toughest possible opponents as she looks to reach the second week in New York for the first time.
