Rafael Jodar started the year ranked 165 and is now a Top 50 player. He won his first ATP Tour event last month, taking out the title in Marrakech.
The 19-year-old took that form to Barcelona where he thrashed Jaume Munar 6-1 6-2, Ugo Carabelli 6-3 6-3 and Cameron Norrie 6-3 6-2 to get into the semi-finals.
The Spaniard went close against Arthur Fils, saving 10/13 break points in a 3-6 6-3 6-2 defeat.
De Jong Outclassed on the ATP Tour
