Zheng Aims to Regain Her Best Form

Qinwen Zheng wrapped up the grass swing with another disappointing campaign, playing four tournaments and winning only two main-draw matches. This is the fifth consecutive season in which she has failed to win more than two matches during the grass season.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injury issues in recent years, which have significantly affected her progress. This season, she has also played a limited schedule as she continues her recovery.

Zheng has played 10 tournaments this year and cleared the opening-round hurdle in six of them. Her best results include the fourth round in Miami and the third round in Doha and Rome.

Bouzas Maneiro Looks to Extend Progress

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro is coming off a successful grass swing, reaching the third round at Wimbledon and the quarterfinals in Nottingham, an encouraging improvement after her difficult start to the season.

The Spaniard struggled for results earlier in the year, winning only four main-draw matches before the second week of May. Since then, she has steadily improved, reaching the semifinals of the WTA 125 Parma event and the quarterfinals in Rabat.

Overall, Bouzas Maneiro has played 18 tournaments this season, with nine ending in the opening round. However, her improved form during the grass swing should give her confidence heading into the inaugural event in Athens.
