Panna Udvardy has shown her best level on clay this season, but the hard-court conditions present a tougher challenge, while Maya Joint arrives in better recent form.

Maya Joint Looks To Continue Her Momentum

  • She has a 6–15 record against Top 100 players in 2026.
  • Maya Joint has cleared the first round in four of her last five events.
  • She has a 7–10 record against players outside the Top 50 this year.

Udvardy Targets a Lucky-Loser Breakthrough

Panna Udvardy survived Emiliana Arango in the first qualifying round but lost to Darja Vidmanova in the final qualifying round. However, she received a lucky-loser entry to earn another opportunity in the main draw this week.

The 27-year-old has produced some notable results on clay, reaching the final in Bogota, the semifinal in Rabat and the quarterfinal in Iasi. Apart from those runs, she has not registered multiple wins in a tour-level event this year.

Overall, she has played 16 main-draw events on tour this year and cleared the opening-round hurdle in 10 of them. She will now look to extend that record in Monterrey.

Joint's Resurgence Continues in Monterrey

Maya Joint qualified for the main draw in Monterrey after winning both of her qualifying matches, including an impressive comeback victory over Yulia Putintseva in the final qualifying round.

The Australian struggled significantly earlier this year, winning only one completed match during a five-month stretch and enduring a 10-match losing streak at one stage.

However, her recent performances have been more encouraging. She has cleared the opening-round hurdle in four of her last five events, including reaching the third round in Toronto.
