Oliynykova Chasing Another Deep Clay Run
Oleksandra Oliynykova survived two tight sets against Ipek Oz to reach the second round in Iași, winning 7-6, 7-6. She trailed by a break twice in the opening set and also saved set points in the second before fighting back to seal the victory in straight sets.
The win snapped her four-match losing streak and marked her first victory since the French Open. Earlier this season, she produced several breakthrough results, including her maiden WTA semifinal in Cluj-Napoca, third-round appearances in Rome and the French Open, and a runner-up finish at the WTA 125 event in Antalya.
Those results helped her make her top-50 debut a few months ago. She is now looking to regain her clay-court momentum and reach another quarterfinal this week.

Pridankina Faces Another Opportunity
Elena Pridankina defeated Miriam Bulgaru in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, to reach the second round in Iași. She trailed by a break twice in the opening set before fighting back to take control of the match and seal the win comfortably.
This is only the third time she has cleared the opening-round hurdle at tour level. She previously achieved the feat in Jiujiang in both the 2024 and 2025 editions but failed to progress beyond the second round on each occasion.
Apart from reaching four quarterfinals on the lower-level circuit, Pridankina has yet to produce a notable result this season. Her best performances came at WTA 125 events, where she reached the quarterfinals in Oeiras and La Bisbal earlier this year.
