Burel Continues Encouraging Return
After a tough opening-round win over Varvara Lepchenko, Clara Burel raised her level by defeating Elsa Jacquemot 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals in Iași. She dropped serve twice but broke her opponent's serve seven times to complete a dominant victory.
The result is encouraging for the Frenchwoman, who spent around 12 months on the sidelines with a knee injury before returning to the tour in April. Apart from winning an ITF title in Nice, she had suffered early exits in her other tournaments before arriving in Iași.
