Bouzkova Returns to Defend Prague Crown
Marie Bouzkova is coming off an impressive grass swing, where she won her maiden grass-court title in Nottingham before reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon.
The Czech struggled for consistency during the first three months of the season, but since the start of the clay swing she has raised her level. She won the title in Bogotá, reached the quarterfinals in Strasbourg, and advanced to the third round at the French Open before carrying that form into the grass season.
Those results, along with her strong grass swing, helped her achieve a career-high ranking of No. 21. She is now looking to make her top-20 debut in the coming weeks.
This will be her sixth main-draw appearance in Prague. In her previous five appearances, she either won the title or lost in the first round. She lifted the trophy here last year and holds a 2-3 first-round record. With her improved ranking and recent form, she will look to defend the title this week.

Bouzas Maneiro Seeks Better Prague Showing
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro also struggled significantly during the early part of the season. She did not record multiple main-draw wins at any tournament until the early weeks of May.
However, in recent weeks she has put together some solid results, reaching the semifinals of the WTA 125 Parma, the quarterfinals in Rabat and Nottingham, and the third round at Wimbledon.
This will be her second main-draw appearance in Prague. She made her debut two years ago but lost to Elsa Jacquemot in straight sets in the first round. She will now look to improve on that result this week.
