Bouzkova Maintains Impressive Home Form
Marie Bouzkova began her title defense with a hard-fought straight-set victory over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, winning 7-5, 7-5. She trailed by a break in the second set but responded quickly to close out the match in straight sets.
The Czech arrived in Prague with strong momentum after a breakthrough grass swing, where she won the Nottingham title and reached the fourth round at Wimbledon. She will now look to carry that form into another deep run this week.
Bouzkova initially struggled this season, but has steadily raised her level since the start of the clay swing. She won the title in Bogota, reached the third round of the French Open, and the quarterfinals in Strasbourg, moving close to a top-20 debut in the rankings.

Lee Claims First Tour-Level Main-Draw Win
Carol Young Suh Lee defeated Veronika Erjavec in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, to reach the second round in Prague. She saved seven of the 11 break points she faced and converted seven of the 15 break-point opportunities she created.
It was the first WTA Tour main-draw win of her career. Before this week, she had entered five tour-level events, with all of them ending in the qualifying stages.
Lee has also produced six quarterfinal-or-better finishes on the ITF Circuit this season, including the W50 Corroios-Seixal title a few weeks ago.
