Katerina Siniakova Seeks Consistency After Recent Setbacks

Katerina Siniakova kick-started her Asian swing last week in Beijing, where she defeated Magda Linette in the opening round before losing to Elina Svitolina from a set up in the following match.

The Czech has played 17 events this year and recorded at least one victory in 12 of them. Her most recent tournament without a main-draw win was in Toronto a few months ago, where she lost to Kamilla Rakhimova from a set up in the opening round.

These inconsistent performances have recently pushed her outside the top 80 in the rankings. Siniakova has recorded multiple main-draw wins at just two tournaments this year, reaching the fourth round at Indian Wells and the third round in Madrid.

Samsonova Builds Momentum After Strong Recent Results

Liudmila Samsonova began her Asian swing with a third-round appearance in Beijing, where she lost in a three-set encounter against Karolina Muchova. She will now look to build on that performance this week.

The Russian struggled significantly during the first half of the season, recording multiple wins at only two tournaments in the first six months of the year. Those results pushed her close to dropping out of the top 70.

However, her recent performances have been much more encouraging. She reached the semifinals in Guadalajara, the fourth round in Toronto and the quarterfinals in Washington, helping her return to the top 50 in the rankings.

Samsonova is now looking to defending the ranking points she earned by reaching the third round at this tournament last year.
