Muchova Seeks To Recreate Her 2024 Beijing Run

Karolina Muchova defeated Liudmila Samsonova from a set down to reach the fourth round in Beijing, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. After a slow start, she found her rhythm in the later stages and finished the match comfortably.

She now has a 1-1 record in fourth-round matches here in Beijing. She reached the final in 2024 but lost at this stage last year. She will now look to make another deep run this week.

The 30-year-old skipped some recent events due to wrist surgery and, since her return, has not won more than two matches in a tournament.

She has a 3-2 record in fourth-round matches at WTA 1000-level or higher events in 2026 and will look to improve that record this week in Beijing.

Osaka Chases A First Beijing Quarterfinal Since 2019

Naomi Osaka defeated Daria Bejlek in straight sets to reach the fourth round in Beijing, winning 7-6, 6-4. She trailed 3-5 in the opening set and saved four set points before winning it, which proved crucial to her victory.

She has now won at least two matches in 11 of the 12 events she has played this year, highlighting her strong consistency and form despite her injury struggles earlier this season.

The Japanese has reached this stage in Beijing three times before, winning her first two matches at this stage before losing the most recent one against Coco Gauff in 2024. Both of her victories came before 2020.

She has a 2-5 record in fourth-round matches at WTA 1000-level or higher events this year, most recently losing to Elena Rybakina at this stage of the US Open last month.
