Jessica Pegula Chases Another Cincinnati Final
Jessica Pegula defeated Amanda Anisimova in three sets to reach the semifinal in Cincinnati, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. She saved all five break points she faced and converted four of the seven she created during the match.
This is only her second semifinal appearance in Cincinnati. She previously defeated Paula Badosa in three sets at this stage to reach the final, and she will now be looking to replicate that run this week.
With this win, she became the second American after Serena Williams to win 100 matches in WTA 1000 hard-court events since the format's introduction in 2009.
She has played six semifinals on tour this year and won her last four, including title runs in Dubai and Charleston. She now heads into this clash with an 8-6 record in WTA 1000 semifinals.

Swiatek Extends Her Cincinnati Semifinal Streak
Iga Swiatek moved into the semifinal after Elena Rybakina retired while trailing 1-4 in the first set due to an ankle injury. She is yet to be seriously tested in Cincinnati after facing three players ranked outside the Top 30 earlier this week.
With this run, she has matched Simona Halep's record of reaching four consecutive semifinals in Cincinnati in the Open Era. Apart from winning the title in 2025, she lost at this stage to Aryna Sabalenka in 2024 and Coco Gauff in 2023.
Swiatek struggled to find her best level earlier this year and did not reach a semifinal until the North American swing. However, winning the title in Toronto boosted her confidence, and she has continued that momentum in Cincinnati.
She has played 23 semifinals at WTA 1000 level and won 14 of them, although four of her nine defeats have come in her last six matches at this stage.
