Dart Seeks Season Revival

Harriet Dart secured a first-round win over Mina Hodzic in three sets in Athens, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. She squandered a 5-3 lead in the deciding set and failed to serve out the match at 6-5, but responded by dominating the final-set tiebreak.

With this victory, Dart snapped a four-match losing streak and is now looking to register multiple tour-level main-draw wins for the first time since Wimbledon 2024.

She has failed to win multiple matches at any level since April. However, she has reached six quarterfinals or better this season, all at lower-level events, most notably finishing runner-up at the W100 Fujairah tournament.

Greek Star Builds on Home Momentum

Maria Sakkari began her home campaign with a victory over Polina Kudermetova in the first round, 6-0, 7-6. She dropped serve twice and converted two of the five break points she created during the match.

The Greek has struggled for consistency in recent seasons, and those issues have continued this year. She has played 13 tournaments and registered multiple main-draw wins in only three of them.

Her best results this season include reaching the third round at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, along with a semifinal appearance in Doha. With home support and favorable conditions, she will be looking to make the most of the opportunity and produce a deep run this week.
