Novak Djokovic has lost his last two matches and turned 39 two days ago. It’s unclear if he will be able to handle the rigours of a Grand Slam, so I am turning to the games market against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard Form
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard started 2026 with quarter-final appearances in Brisbane and Auckland. He has lost 11 of his previous 17 matches, none of those six victories coming against a Top 90 player.
The 22-year-old lost 6-4 6-4 to Lorenzo Musetti in the second round in Rome. He then went to the Bordeaux Challenger, beating Otto Virtanen and Aleksandar Vukic before a 6-3 7-6 quarter-final exit against Quentin Halys.
The Frenchman met wildcard Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round in Geneva, winning 25% of his 2nd serves in a 6-4 7-6 defeat.
Perricard spoke before facing Novak Djokovic: “Lately I had problems. My wrist was in a bit of a problematic shape for a month on clay, but now I'm better, and I'm ready. 100 per cent ready, so physically I feel good.”
Novak Djokovic Form
Novak Djokovic has competed in three events this year, starting at the Australian Open. He overcame Jannik Sinner in 5 sets but couldn’t contain Carlos Alcaraz, losing the final in 4 sets.
The Serbian returned to action in Indian Wells where he needed 3 sets to get past Kamil Majchrzak and Aleksandar Kovacevic. He lost 4-6 6-4 7-6 to Jack Draper in the fourth round.
The 39-year-old took two months off before taking part in Rome. He had a good start in his opening match against Dino Prizmic, but couldn’t close it out and went on to lose 2-6 6-2 6-4.
Djokovic recently celebrated his birthday and spoke about his preparations for Roland Garros: “It's been a lot of hours spent on the court and trying to perfect the game and the body and enable myself physically and game-wise to be ready for best of five.
“Let's see. I don't know whether that's going to be the case for the entire tournament, however long that tournament will be for me.”
