Pridankina Looks to Build on Qualifying Run

Elena Pridankina qualified for the main draw on her Hamburg debut after defeating Diana Martynov and Victoria Brand in straight sets in the qualifying rounds. She will now look to make an impact in the main draw.

The 20-year-old has struggled to produce deep runs this season, registering multiple main-draw wins only four times. All of those results came on the lower-level circuit, including WTA 125 events in Oeiras and La Bisbal.

So far in her career, she has made six tour-level main-draw appearances and cleared the opening round three times. One of those victories came last week in Iasi, where she reached the second round.

Udvardy Eyes Another Strong Clay Run

After a disappointing grass swing, Panna Udvardy rediscovered her level once the clay season resumed, reaching the quarterfinals in Iasi before losing to Paula Badosa in straight sets.

She had already produced some of her best results of the season on clay, including reaching the final in Bogota, the semifinals in Rabat, and recording main-draw wins in Madrid and Rome. Those performances helped her achieve a career-high ranking of No. 56 earlier this year.

Udvardy has played 10 clay-court events across all levels this season and has cleared the opening round in seven of them. She will be looking to continue that run in Hamburg.
