While Alexandrova has impressed in Beijing, Andreeva’s overall level makes her the favourite in this matchup.

Andreeva Bids To Improve Her Hard-Court Quarterfinal Mark

  • Alexandrova has a 3–3 career record in the quarterfinals at WTA 1000-level events.
  • She has won three of her last four matches against Top 10 players.
  • Mirra Andreeva has a 1–4 record in quarterfinals on hard courts in 2026.
  • She has a 43–6 record against players outside the Top 20 in 2026.

2025 Stuttgart R16 Clay Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-2

Alexandrova Finds Her Best Level At The Right Time

Ekaterina Alexandrova knocked out world No. 6 Linda Noskova in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals in Beijing, winning 6-2, 6-2. She won 88% of her first-serve points and saved all four break points she faced during the match.

This is her third top-10 win in her last four such matches, highlighting her strong resurgence after a difficult stretch early this year. She also fought back from a set down to defeat Daria Snigur in the previous round.

The Russian enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, which helped her make her top-10 debut towards the end of the season. However, she failed to carry that form into the new season and won only six matches in the first five months, which forced her outside the top 20.

However, she has shown some resurgence in recent months by reaching the quarterfinals in Bad Homburg and Toronto, along with the third round at Wimbledon, the US Open and Cincinnati. She has now built on that progress by reaching the quarterfinals this week.

Andreeva Chases Her Best Result In Beijing

Mirra Andreeva secured her place in the quarterfinals after defeating Daria Snigur in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. She lost her serve once and broke her opponent five times during the match.

This is her second quarterfinal appearance in Beijing. She previously reached this stage in 2025, when she lost to Qinwen Zheng from a set up. She will now look to produce her best result here.

The Russian is two wins away from reaching the 50-win mark this season, which would be the most wins in a single season of her career so far. After missing out on defending her titles early this year, she recouped ranking points by winning 22 of her 25 matches on clay, including the title at Roland Garros.

She has a 5-5 record in quarterfinals this year, but her record on hard courts stands at 1-4. Her only win at this stage on the surface came in Adelaide in January.
