Vekic Looks To Rediscover Her Best Level

Donna Vekic recently snapped her five-match losing streak by defeating Talia Gibson in three sets in the first round at the US Open, but she failed to build on that result, suffering another three-set loss to Ann Li in the following match.

The 30-year-old dropped outside the top 100 after a slow start, but a few encouraging results, including winning the title at Queen's Club, reaching the semifinals in Linz and making a couple of WTA 125 finals, have helped her return to the top 50 in the rankings.

She has played 20 events this year, with 11 ending either in the qualifying rounds or the first round, including five of her last six events.

Wang Returns With A Semifinal To Defend

Xinyu Wang posted some encouraging results during the recently concluded North American swing, reaching the third round in Cincinnati and the second round at the US Open.

The 24-year-old had a strong start to the year, reaching the final in Auckland, the fourth round at the Australian Open and the quarterfinals in Cluj-Napoca. Her level dropped since then, and she has registered multiple main-draw wins only twice in the last seven months.

This is only her second appearance in Singapore. Last year, she made her debut and went on to reach the semifinals, and she is now looking to defend those points this week.
