Coco Gauff's WTA 1000 Form Sets the Tone
Coco Gauff secured her place in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati after defeating Marie Bouzkova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. She saved all eight break points she faced and converted three of the 12 she created during the match.
With this win, she became the youngest player to reach back-to-back quarterfinals in Cincinnati since Elina Svitolina in 2014-15. This is her third quarterfinal appearance here; she lost at this stage to Jasmine Paolini last year but went on to win the title in 2023.
The American lost significant points during the clay swing after failing to defend her title at Roland Garros and her runner-up points in Madrid, but she bounced back by reaching the semifinal at Wimbledon and another semifinal in Toronto last week. She will now be looking to extend that strong run.
She has a 16-9 record in WTA 1000 quarterfinals, including winning 12 of her last 13 matches at this stage, highlighting her strong improvement at this level in recent years.
