Tauson One Win Away from the Final

Clara Tauson moved into the semifinals after defeating Sara Bejlek in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. She has not dropped a set so far this week, having also recorded comfortable wins over Miriana Tona and Nao Hibino in the previous rounds.

Tauson will be delighted with her performances in Athens after arriving on the back of a difficult run that saw her fail to win a match in seven of her last eight tournaments while also dealing with recurring fitness issues.

This is her second tour-level semifinal of the season. She previously reached the last four in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, where she lost to Sara Bejlek in three sets.

Tauson owns a 5-3 record in WTA tour-level semifinals but has lost each of her last two matches at this stage.

Krejcikova Keeps Title Bid Alive

Barbora Krejcikova moved into the semifinals after defeating Qinwen Zheng in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. She trailed by a break in both sets before producing strong comebacks to finish the match in straight sets.

This is her first hard-court semifinal since the 2024 WTA Finals. She is now aiming to reach her first hard-court final since winning the Zhengzhou title in 2023.

Krejcikova struggled with fitness issues during the early part of the season and made only a handful of appearances, but she has gradually rediscovered her rhythm with finals at the WTA 125 Parma and Hertogenbosch events, followed by a fourth-round run at Wimbledon.

She heads into this clash with an outstanding 14-2 record in WTA tour-level semifinals, including an 8-2 record on hard courts.
