Ruud Aiming for Third French Open Final
Casper Ruud went 7-7 on hard courts but is now 15-4 on clay. He retired in Monte Carlo before reaching the quarter-finals in Madrid.
The 27-year-old took out four Top 20 players on his way to the final in Rome where he went down 6-4 6-4 to Jannik Sinner. He went deep again in Geneva, exiting in the semi-finals after a surprise 7-5 6-2 defeat to Mariano Navone.
The Norwegian nearly threw away a big advantage at Roland Garros before holding on to defeat Roman Safiullin 6-2 7-6 5-7 0-6 6-2. He saved all seven break points in the second round, a 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory against Hamad Medjedovic.
Paul Consistent on Clay
Tommy Paul has been consistent this year, reaching three finals. The first came in Delray Beach where he lost to Sebastian Korda, the second in Houston where he beat Roman Andres Burruchaga to claim the title.
The American went all the way in Hamburg where he was favoured to beat qualifier Ignacio Buse. It didn’t work out as planned, losing 7-6 4-6 6-3 in over three hours.
