The 25-year-old beat Jakub Mensik and Alex de Minaur on his way to the semi-finals where he went down in 3 sets to Taylor Fritz.
The American maintained that form in Montreal, beating Luciano Darderi and Rafael Jodar on his way to the final. He went close against Ben Shelton, going down 6-3 7-6.
Nakashima had few problems in his opening match in Cincinnati, defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-2 7-5 in 81 minutes.
Medvedev Hanging Onto Top 10 Spot
Daniil Medvedev climbed back into the Top 10 in March after winning titles in Brisbane, Dubai and reaching the Indian Wells final. He ended the hard court swing with a 19-5 record.
The 30-year-old had a poor start on clay before getting to the Rome semi-finals where he pushed Jannik Sinner to 3 sets. He then lost to Adam Walton in the French Open first round.
The Russian hardly fared any better on grass, all three defeats coming against players outside the Top 70.
Medvedev’s poor form continued in Montreal where he lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in his opening match, winning just 20% of his 2nd serves. He got past qualifier Marco Trungelliti 6-4 7-5 in Cincinnati.
