Hungarian Looks to Regain Momentum

Anna Bondar is coming off a disappointing grass swing, where she played three tournaments and suffered first-round exits in all of them, including a loss to Solana Sierra at Wimbledon.

The Hungarian registered multiple main-draw wins only once during the first three months of the season but improved significantly on clay by reaching the quarterfinals in Rabat and Rouen and the fourth round in Madrid. She will be hoping to rediscover that clay-court form this week.

This is Bondar's second appearance in Iasi. On her tournament debut in 2024, she reached the quarterfinals.

Spaniard Returns with Confidence

Sara Sorribes Tormo took a six-month break from tennis last year to focus on her mental health and also made a slow start to this season, winning only two matches during the first two months.

However, the Spaniard has steadily regained her form in recent weeks by reaching the semifinals in La Bisbal and Makarska and winning the WTA 125 title in Portoroz. She will now look to carry that momentum into tour-level events.

This is her debut appearance in Iasi. She has played four tour-level events this season and cleared the opening-round hurdle in two of them.
