Bondar Seeks Winning Start in Hamburg
Anna Bondar snapped her four-match losing streak in first-round matches with a win over Sara Sorribes Tormo in the opening round in Iasi, but she failed to build on it after losing to Tamara Zidansek in three tight sets.
Before that recent slump, she posted notable results on clay by reaching the quarterfinals in Rouen and Rabat, the fourth round in Madrid, and the third round in Charleston. She will be looking to bring that form back this week.
This will be her third appearance in Hamburg. She has produced strong results in both of her previous visits, winning the title in 2024 and finishing runner-up in 2025.

Uchijima Looks to End Recent Struggles
Moyuka Uchijima arrives in Hamburg on a disappointing run, having failed to win a match in six of her last seven tournaments, including an opening-round loss in Iasi last week.
The Japanese has registered multiple main-draw wins only three times this season, with all of those runs coming at WTA 125 events. She won titles in Antalya and Sani and reached the semifinals at Antalya 2.
This will be her second appearance in Hamburg. She lost to Nastasja Schunk in the first round on her debut last year and will be looking for a better result this week.
