The World Series of Poker continued to deliver intense action on Day 15, highlighting both incredible underdog triumphs against elite fields and the steady rise of familiar high stakes players locking in deep runs.
While many bracelet winners in the three-figure buy-in range find themselves battling fellow up-and-comers late in tournaments, Brent Gregory’s path to the title was anything but ordinary.
Gregory outlasted a massive field of 3,332 entries to win Event #28: $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack. The victory earned him his first WSOP bracelet and a career-best payday of $204,140.
The eventual champion had to navigate a final table that featured prominent poker figures Daniel Negreanu, Alex Foxen, Maurice Hawkins, and Josh Reichard. This lineup turned one of the WSOP’s smallest buy-ins into one of its toughest final tables of the summer.
GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu missed out on the bracelet, ultimately finishing in 8th place for a payout of $24,347.
The star-studded Event #29: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em whittled its field down to only 12 players moving on to Day 3. India's Santhosh Suvarna bagged up the largest stack of the final dozen, accumulating ,700,000 chips.
Suvarna already has a bracelet for each wrist. He won the €50,000 Diamond High Roller at the 2023 WSOP Europe festival for €650,000.
He later secured the $250,000 No-Limit Hold'em Super High Roller at the 2024 WSOP for a massive $5,415,152 score. The Indian star is now in pole position to win this event's bracelet alongside the $1,922,870 top prize.
Two other notable events wrapped up their action on Day 15. Event #27: $10,000 Dealer's Choice Championship concluded, and it was Bryce Yockey who will forever be known as its champion.
Meanwhile, there were celebrations among the PokerNews team when the champion of Event #31: $1,500 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em emerged. That winner was none other than PokerNews Podcast co-host Mike Holtz, who locked up the tournament victory.
